Jewish Aid Australia works with The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), a community based non-profit organisation, and the largest provider of aid, advocacy and health services for asylum seekers in Australia. The ASRC supports asylum seekers living in our community and those in detention, providing direct support and material aid. The ASRC also lobbies and campaigns for policy changes. The ASRC has helped over 3000 people from 80 countries over the last year. Their Foodbank provides food to 1200 people each month, most of whom have no money to purchase food and toiletries and no right to work to earn an income. How can you get involved: 1. Organise a collection of foods and toiletries for the Foodbank - anything within a suggested list, or a suggested theme for each year level eg. baby goods, canned fruit and/or vegetables, packaged dried food, eg. pasta, rice etc. Set up a drop off point at the school for families to drop off foods and/or toiletries at any time. 2. Fundraise for the purchase of foods and toiletries for the Foodbank or specific items eg. tram tickets for families to be able to access the ASRC.
