Hanover's mission is to empower people who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness, to enable them to take greater control over their lives and to stimulate and encourage change in Australian society to benefit them. This is achieved by delivering services, conducting research and by advocacy.

Hanover believes that homelessness is not simply a welfare issue but is also an issue of health, employment/training, housing and urban development.

Jewish Aid Australia has worked with Hanover Welfare Services for 6 years undertaking volunteer programs with families, students and young adults. The aim of our volunteer work is to provide an environment where people can come together as equals, to possibly learn some thing (tutoring and computer training), share food and play games so that we build self-esteem and a sense of sharing.

How can you get involved:

1. Volunteer you and/or you family to attend a Family Picnic Day

2. Volunteer to be a tutor for students after school

3. Assist in our computer training classes

4. Encourage your school to undertake a study unit on the issues of homelessness

5. Organise a fundraiser with your school or business
